Join Slow Food Russian River for a Tour of Mycopia Gourmet Mushrooms and Merry Edwards Winery

January 23 @ 10:30 am1:00 pm

On Thursday, January 23rd, SFRR will host an event featuring both Mycopia Gourmet Mushrooms and Merry Edwards Winery.

Mycopia Gourmet Mushrooms – Mycopia rarely offers public tours, but has offered to give us a peek at their groundbreaking system of exotic mushroom cultivation utilizing reusable jars. Their mushrooms have been certified organic and kosher since 2005.

Merry Edwards – The Merry Edwards Winery was founded in 1997 with a focus on locally sourced and estate grown Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. The winery uses Mycopia’s mushroom substrate as compost in their vineyards, and is focused on building healthy soils and sustainable ecosystems to improve the quality of their wine while respecting land and community.

The Tour – These two agricultural trailblazers have shared a property on Gravenstein Highway just south of Graton since 2001, and because they are so close you will be able to walk from one to the other for a stimulating view of two local industry leaders. Your visit to Merry Edwards will include a discussion about winery and vineyard operations and a sampling of their Russian River Valley wines.

Logistics – The Merry Edwards presentation will be outside, weather permitting, so please dress accordingly. Some snacks will be served with wine at Merry Edwards Winery, but lunch is not included. As always, please do not attend if you are feeling ill and may be contagious; we can refund your payment if necessary.

For the first week, tickets are available only to SFRR members and volunteers. After that, depending on availability, the event will be opened up to the public and sent to the rest of our mailing list.
