Interested in helping kids learn how to press apples and sample their own fresh apple juice? We connect kids with Sonoma County agricultural work and familiarize Fair attendees with the work of Slow Food. Experience is not needed - trained volunteers will guide you. All shifts are busy! We hand out roughly 7,000 samples of juice during the Fair.
Meet at 10:30 am at the Luther Burbank Experimental Farm to load the press and supplies into vehicles, then drive to Ragle Ranch Park to set up our booth until about 2:00 pm.
Arrive at Ragle Ranch Park at 9:30 am, volunteer at the Slow Food booth from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Fair Afternoon: Arrive at Ragle Ranch Park at1:30 pm, volunteer from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Arrive at Ragle Ranch Park at 5:30 pm, volunteer until 8:30 pm
All these roles can be physical, but there’s plenty of light work to be done. Heavier work includes moving buckets of juice and pomace and assisting with equipment as needed. Volunteers rotate roles so no one does just one thing for the whole shift. Help us make the Gravenstein Apple Fair a great experience for everyone!
