Tierra Vegetables Farm Tour and Potluck Picnic with Slow Food Russian River
Tierra Vegetables was started in 1980 by siblings Lee and Wayne James and is still going strong selling vegetables and products from their farm stand and farmers markets. The farm focuses on sustainability through crop rotation, composting and collaborative pest management.
Tierra Vegetables has a wonderful CSA which provides food year-round. They grow 20+ varieties of shelling beans and various types of corn for cornmeal, masa, popcorn, and tortillas. They also grow 50 varieties of chilies, which they meticulously slow-smoke and dry onsite for the best flavor.
We will learn all about their farming practices and the specialty and heirloom crops they grow. We will also be able to purchase their beautiful produce and specialty products produced in their commercial kitchen. Afterwards, we will have a potluck picnic in their gardens!
